The Birth of Cerro Negro
It was born out of nowhere in the middle of the plain.
Unlike other volcanoes that take thousands of years to form under complex structures,
Cerro Negro literally sprouted from the flat ground. In April 1850,
the inhabitants of León heard loud rumblings for days until the earth opened up,
giving way to the birth of this giant "baby".
